Kooyong Teams Reach ATL Decider

The Asia Pacific Tennis League is set to culminate with the finals to be played at the National Tennis Centre on Saturday at 2pm.

Kooyong’s two teams finished the five match season unbeaten and on top of the ladder and will now face two very strong sides for their respective finals for the chance to represent Victoria in the ATL Playoffs at the Australian Open in January.

The men played MCC in the final round on Sunday and were too good for their opponents as they came away with a six rubbers to love win.

Rubin Statham, Daniel Byrnes, Andrew Coelho and Marc Polmans had strong singles wins while Polmans teamed up with Byrnes and David Bidmeade and Mitch Burman joined forces to complete the sweep.

The men will now play Dingley Dingoes in the final after they completed an amazing final round just one point in front of the Tennis World Taipans to clinch the important second position on the ladder.

This should be a fantastic battle as both teams boast great quality and depth and the match should come down to some very interesting doubles combinations at the end of the day.

The women reached the final after a similarly impressive run through the minor rounds and finished with a strong four rubbers to two win over MCC.

They will now face the top ranked side in the country, Royal South Yarra Royals, who have a huge amount of firepower at their disposal in what should be a great contest.

Sally Peers, Arina Rodionova, Ellen Perez, Annabelle Andrinopoulos, Destanee Aiava and Kate Antosik will face off against the likes of Storm Sanders, Tammi Patterson, Azra Hadzic and Sam harris.

Both finals will be the highest of quality and will provide fans with a great taste of elite tennis at its best.

Make sure you get down to the National Tennis Centre this Saturday to see Victoria’s best teams in action.
